Hijama … its virtues, importance and benefits

Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah the Almighty said:

“If there is healing in any of your medicines, it is in cupping or in drinking honey.” (Bukhari, Book of Medicine, Hadith No. (5783))

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the second scholar of Islam said:

In the example of what you treat with al-Hijama and Qast al-Bahri Bukhari, Kitab al-Tib, Hadith No. (5797)

The best medicine you can use for treatment is cupping and sea cucumber.

Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about cupping. The Imam (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“Indeed, there is healing in it (cupping). (Bukhari, Kitab al-Tibb, Hadith No. 5797)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned the night of the Ascension and said: “No group of angels passed by that night except that they ordered him to order his Ummah to be treated with cupping.” (Tirmidhi Hadith No.: 2052… Hasan Gharib)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to have cupping done between his head and his shoulders. (Ibn Majah, Hadith No. 3484)

When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was bewitched, the Imam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had his head cupped.

Doctors have mentioned the following general benefits of cupping:

It purifies the blood and activates the forbidden brain….. It has a good effect on the glands…… It is useful for relieving muscle stiffness, asthma and lung diseases….. It gives relief in headaches… It is useful for shoulder, chest and back pain… It is useful for facial boils… It gives relief in toothache… It is useful for uterine diseases… It is useful for ulcers, acne and itching… It is useful for wounds filled with material… It removes laziness… It gives relief in allergies… It is beneficial in eye diseases… It is useful in arthritis and pain in the female genitals… It has been proven to be beneficial in ulcers, gout.
